Julie Adenuga, the Chicken Connoisseur and more debate the UK’s top 10 greatest MCs

Most people have a top five MCs list, but not many have a top 30.

But as Noisey reached the conclusion of their top 30 UK MCs of all time list they drafted in the big hitters to discuss the top ten.

With Julie Adenuga on hosting duties and joined by A.Dot, Toddla T, Poet and the Chicken Connoisseur, the panel got deep into it.

As you can hear it’s not just lyrical ability that cements a place in the list – although that’s obviously been factored in – but things like the impact Roots Manuva had on the way people saw themselves, JME’s non-conforming nature, and Kano’s all-round ability played a part in their positions.

“He’s a sweetboy that will spin you. This is the same guy that done Brown Eyes that will spin you,” A.Dot said about Kano.

Giggs, Ghetts and P Money were all listed by the panel as people they’d have liked to have seen in the top ten, which was created by Noisey journalists, radio people and the panel.

Mike Skinner, Ms Dynamite, Skepta and Dizzee Rascal all featured high up on the list but the number one spot was reserved for one man – Wiley.

His impact through production, tireless work ethic and the fact that before everything he’s a fan first all played a part in Wiley’s lofty position, and saw him handed the award on stage at his sold out Roundhouse show by Julie.
