Black Mirror actor Ashley Thomas has been chosen to star in a new series based on the 24 franchise – 24: Legacy.

The 31-year-old musician also known as Bashy, from Kensal Green, London, will play Isaac Carter, the older brother of Eric Carter, played by US actor Corey Hawkins – who played Dr Dre in Straight Outta Compton.

The 20th Century Fox Television pilot produced by Howard Gordon (Homeland, 24), Manny Coto (24) and Evan Katz (24) will feature a new cast of characters replacing Kiefer Sutherland’s Jack Bauer including Miranda Otto, Teddy Sears, Anna Diop and Jimmy Smits. It will retain the 24 model of real-time storytelling with split screens and complex story lines, with each episode representing an hour of an eventful day. According to Fox, “the project will revolve around a military hero’s return to the US and the trouble that follows him back – compelling him to ask CTU for help in saving his life, and stopping what potentially could be one of the largest-scale terror attacks on American soil”.
