TE – Welcome To The Club [Review]

In the last few years, London native TE has been putting in the work, building a solid team around himself and, most importantly, finding his voice. Now, at just 21 years old, the time has come for him to take it to the next level. Welcome To The Club

With production handled predominantly by close-friend and Dutch Club cohort Sangeet, the mixtape is sonically diverse. From the acoustic sounds found on Inception, to the anthemic trap-influenced Goldmine, every angle is covered. Despite these opposing sounds, TE still manages to reign it all together with his signature style, breezing over and adapting to the beats as they come his way.

As an MC, TE is a certified force to be reckoned with, his hunger and passion for the music are apparent from the off. His opening words on Track 1, Go TE, are “21, I’m so young, but I spit game like I’m old,” words which encompass much of his self-assured attitude throughout the mixtape.

Highlight tracks include Paradise (which features No.1-selling Heatwave vocalist Ms. D), as well as hearfelt and inspirational skit, I Remember, and the infectious, No Stress, to name just a few.

Aside from his way with words, TE conveys a refreshing air of confidence about him throughout the course of Welcome To The Club. making it that bit more exciting for the listener. Fusing the extravagance and swag of US trap music with the heart and soul of UK hip hop, this mixtape makes for a perfect continuation of TE as an artist, as well as a fitting introduction for those not yet in the know.
