These latest two Soul Train Awards nominations results in an astounding 21 nominations over the years, making the R&B veteran the most nominated act ever at the awards show. R. Kelly has won eight out of the 19 previous awards he was nominated for, most recently the Stevie Wonder Award for Outstanding Achievements in Songwriting at the 2006 Soul Train Awards.

Along with R. Kelly, also receiving multiple nominations were Nas, Tray Songz, John Legend and Estelle.
