The FA find John Terry guilty of racially abusing Anton Ferdinand
After announcing his retirement from international football earlier this week, the FA has found Chelsea defender John Terry guilty of using racist language towards QPR’s Anton Ferdinand…
In a court of law, Terry was acquitted of a racially aggravated public order offence for the same incident earlier this year. However, the FA’s independent regulatory commission has just delivered its verdict after a four-day hearing, ruling that Terry must serve a four-game ban and pay a fine of £220,000.
A statement issued by Terry’s management reads: “Mr Terry is disappointed that the FA Regulatory Commission has reached a different conclusion to the clear not guilty verdict of a court of law.”
It is thought that Terry will try and overturn this decision with an appeal.
